TEMPERAMENT
Cereus was imported from the Netherlands to the USA at eleven weeks old. She started off as a happy-go-lucky, confident and social dog. Unfortunately, when she was sixteen weeks old, COVID lockdown started, causing her to miss out on crucial socialization opportunities. This contributed to her developing a more sensitive and suspicious side, along with a touch of separation anxiety. Despite these challenges, she's still quite confident and social in familiar surroundings.
When faced with new people or places, Cereus needs a bit of time and positive exposure to feel at ease. She is a low-drive, medium-energy dog who enjoys exploring the world at her own pace. While not very food or play-driven, she values positive interactions and thrives on a relationship-based approach. She enjoys going out to observe the world with her humans, go on hikes, try different sports and anything that allows her to work with her humans. Her temperament, similar to a Belgian Shepherd, means she is very attuned to her handler's emotions. We anticipate her puppies to inherit some herder-like suspicious and sensitive tendencies. To mitigate this aspect, our breeding program focuses on selecting studs with a more naturally aloof and confident demeanor.
